Icesi is a non-for-profit University founded in Cali, Colombia in 1979 by a group of local companies and entrepreneurs who now comprise its Board of Directors. Icesi serves the Valle del Cauca state which is known for its agro-industrial vocation as well as for its national leadership in industries such as pharmaceuticals, biofuels, food products, rubber, publishing and which is home to 4 largest IT firms in the country.
The university is nationally accredited and it includes 5 schools, 19 undergraduate and 25 graduate programs. Icesi ranks in the top 5 in the country on undergraduate GRE testing and first in the region. During the last 5 years Icesi has also ranked second and third nationally for Information Technology related majors.
Currently the university has close to 5,000 students.
