Yemi was born in Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria and migrated to the U.S. at the age of 9.
With a strong interest in science and mathematical-related fields, Yemi enrolled at MIT in 2005 for a Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS). Along the way, he picked up an interest in Business and Economics. He graduated from MIT in 2009 with dual Bachelor's of Science in EECS and Management Science and a minor in Economics. He continued at MIT and earned his Master's of Engineering in EECS in 2011.
Yemi is an avid sports fan and used to play football (soccer) until an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury pushed him into early retirement. At the time of retirement, he had won one collegiate intramural championship as a central defender. After retirement, he assumed the role of team manager and coached his team to another championship.
Yemi is able to write code in Python, Java, Visual Basic, PHP, HTML, Matlab, STATA and ASP.NET.
Yemi can also speak three languages - Yoruba, English and Spanish - with near fluency.
